Week Two

{Tuesday, September 13}

Letter: P
Number: 1
Shape: Circle
Projects/Activities:
-Each child picked a weather card and acted out what they would do in that weather.
-We did the spotlight on Kylie. We learned she loves tacos and rice, her dance class, her blanky, and dressing up and playing with her sister. She loves her Dad and is excited to be a big sister.
-Read "All Around the Mulberry Bush" and acted out what the kids in the song were doing.
-We talked about the number ONE and practiced writing them in their journals.
-We talked about the letter P. We learned about the word "Pounce". We then made an obstacle course out pillows and pounced over them.
-We learned about Arms and Legs today.
-We looked at pictures of x-rays, talked about what our bones do, and then made a picture with bones.
-We measured how big our arms were and how big or little of circles we could make with our arms hooked together. We sang a song about big hugs.
-We ate crackers and lemonade for snack.
-We did an activity called "Spend a Circle". We talked about how you need to buy things at stores and how we shouldn't steal. Each kid was given a circle gold coin and could "buy" a chance to play a game.
-We then talked about our legs and sang a song about legs.
{Thursday, September 15}

Letter: A
Number: 2
Projects/Activities:
-Each kid brought in an item they like to touch for show'n'tell.
Casen- Marlee's shoe, Graham- stuffed animal chipmunk and snake, Treagan- nighty, Lily- stuffed animal, Kylie- blanky, Camree- stuffed animal dog
-We learned about the letter A and tried drawing them in their journals.
-We learned about the number 2. We practiced drawing 2 and counting things in twos.
-We learned about Touch (Skin/Fingers).
-I hid a sock in a bag and they had to close their eyes while they felt the sock and guess what it was.
-We learned about things that are too hot to touch and sang a song about being safe around hot things.
-We talked about texture and made a texture picture. I traced their hands, we dyed rice, and glued the cutout hand and rice to the picture to create a different texture.
-We then went outside and found different textures.
-Apparently September 17 is Apple Day so we did apple activities.
-We guessed clues to figure out what our snack of the day would be- apples and apple juice!
-We made the Apple Day texture book.
-We then talked about Taste. We talked about their favorite taste and how we taste. We did a chomping motion with our arms and counted how many times each kid could "chomp".
-We looked at a map of the world and talked a little bit about England.
